2019 Reading Resolutions


I hate how little I read last year (basically none at all), and I'm really hoping to turn things around this year. I decided to make a list of reading resolutions to help me to read more. If you have trouble hitting your reading goals, maybe this will help you as well!

  1. Find 15 minutes of daily reading time.
  2. I can definitely make space in my schedule to fit AT LEAST 15 minutes dedicated to reading. Before bedtime, while waiting for class to start, and during study breaks are all times I could use more productively, and what's more productive than reading? 
  3. Listen to audio books.
  4. Print books will last forever, but I don't have forever, unfortunately. Audio books are great for on-the-go, and I will definitely be able to finish books faster if I opt for books instead of music at the gym, while I'm cooking, or commuting. I have found that this doesn't work for all books though, at least for me. With books that are more intense in writing and information-full writing like fantasy or science fiction, I have trouble following along because of the great amount of descriptions. Meanwhile, romantic contemporary books are easier to follow, and thus are easier to understand aurally.
  5. Keep a reading journal.
  6. I find that when I take long breaks while reading a book, I sometimes forget previous events. If I take notes about what has happened, it'll save me from re-reading. Not only will this be helpful when I'm writing reviews, but I'm hoping writing will spark some creative ideas for blog posts as well.
  7. Blog often!
  8. A lot of my blog is based on the reviews I write, and in order to do that, I have to read. Knowing that I have posts to upkeep will encourage me to read more. I really do miss blogging, and it can only be beneficial to dedicate time to a personal project.
